One of Atrivity's strengths involves the ability to create games in different places across the world. With your main office in Europe as an example, you can schedule a remote game for your colleagues in the United States or create a live game for an annual conference happening in Asia.

This article aims to assist you with understanding how to make Atrivity work across different time zones.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Compettia recommends using Chrome or Firefox for game management.

Default time zone

Your environment where you manage Atrivity games features a default time zone. This time zone setting is located within your Environment settings. If you would like to view them, click the pencil icon next to your Environment as shown below:

You should then see the following settings below.

If you need to make any adjustments to your master time zone, all you need to do is select the desired one from the drop down list (see number 1) and click the Calculate local time button (number 2) to verify the actual time is correct. If you see any irregularity, you can correct this by entering a positive or negative number in the Time adjust box (number 3), such as 1 (to add an hour) or -1 (to subtract an hour). This is particularly useful where the time zone observes Daylight saving time (DST).

Game time zone

Based on the settings shown in the previous section, Atrivity automatically integrates your default time zone into every game that you create in the web portal. However, for games you plan to execute in different places across the world, you can set a specific time zone for that game. From a player standpoint, this is extremely important. Lets say you organize a remote game for your salesforce in Dubai from your office in Paris. Depending on the time of year, there is a 2-3 hour time difference. If you organize your game to start at 8:00 am, without changing the time zone, it means your game will actually start at 10:00 am or 11:00 am! This is why it is essential to ensure your game matches the correct time zone.

Adjusting the time zone for a specific game is very simple. Once you enter the Atrivity web portal, click the Games tab to view all games created in your environment. Click the pencil next to your game or the game title as shown in number 1.

You will then see different sections for setting up your game. Changing the time zone for your game follows a similar process as before:

        1) Click the General set up section

        2) Scroll down to Time Zone (number 2) and adjust the settings by clicking the drop-down menu

        3) Click the Calculate local time to confirm the time is correct and make adjustments as shown above to obtain the correct time

        4) Click the Save button to confirm these changes

Your game will now be configured to the correct time zone.
